Admiral Analog’s
At the top of German Street is one of our favorite shops: “Admiral Analog’s,” which features the latest and greatest (as well as timeless classics) in new and used vinyl (including new releases). You’ll also find cassettes, CDs, used turntables and stereo equipment, t-shirts, pins, patches, and stickers. They’re always buying and trading with the public as well.
It’s a must-stop for all of our record-loving guests.
Here’s a quick Q&A with Andrew:
Tell us about yourself, your business, and why folks should check it out.
I think of myself as a small business owner, and then owner of a retail store as a subcategory. I sell all kinds of things related to music; foremost is records, but CDs, cassettes, record players, music shirts, and buttons all sell well, too. It’s a fun environment, like a toy store for early teens through adulthood. However, if you don’t like fun, music, or records, I probably won’t have too much to offer you here.
Are you from Shepherdstown, and if not, how/why did you end up here?
The general area—Hagerstown, Maryland. So, within a 30-minute radius. I eventually moved to Shepherdstown to cut out the commute.
How would you describe Shepherdstown?
It’s quiet, safe, clean, progressive, inclusive, educated, active, human friendly, dog friendly, and welcoming.
Why should people come visit Shepherdstown?
Because there’s a record store here. Ha! If the above adjectives appeal to you, then that’s 10 good reasons to visit.
What’s your favorite spot in Shepherdstown and why?
Definitely Dollar General or 7-11. Jokes! I'm full of them. I also like a secret little spot by the train tracks where I can sit and gaze over a cliff and into the wilderness.
